PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS NOT VIRTUAL. THIS ROLE IS LOCATED ONSITE AT AN AMAZON ROBOTICS SORTABLE SITE IN ITALY WHICH IS CURRENTLY CONFIDENTIAL. THIS POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE ONSITE AND THERE IS NO FLEXIBILITY FOR THIS POSITION TO BE VIRTUAL. FURTHER DETAILS REGARDING LOCATION WILL BE PROVIDED AS PART OF THE INTERVIEW PROCESS.

Key job responsibilities

Operations and Compliance Manager to oversee the end-to-end operation at our drone delivery hub in Italy, Europe.

The objective of this role is to ensure operations are planned, well-coordinated and compliance is adhered to. Act as the senior leader on site and have direct responsibility over managers and employees on site.

In that capacity, they will manage all aspects of the commercial ops, including the fulfillment center partnership (outbound/ inbound). As well as partner with customer-facing teams (customer support, marketing, PR) to provide the best ultra-fast delivery experience, and with technical and support functions (Training, Compliance, Product, Engineering, IT, Facilities, Finance, HR, Supply Chain) to drive a highly efficient operation and ultimately have direct impact on Amazon’s goal of delivering packages to customers.

This position may be subject to additional terms including medical checks, drug/alcohol and background screening at pre-employment and during post-employment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation, Safety or related field

  • Aviation industry experience.

  • Experience owning facility and security related activities for their site in conjunction with PA supporting functions.

  • Experienced Quality and Safety Manager (SM) with compliance administration

  • Experience in operations manual and training standards

  • Experience in leading staff. Mentoring, developing, assigning tasks, defining and establishes performance expectations of a team.

  • Experience in creating staffing plans, and overseeing HC and HR related activities.

  • Experience in owning and delivering operational budget for functional areas, including safety, productivity, financial and labor planning, and operational goals for outbound/ inbound operations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experienced in participated and contributed to program-level activities; represented commercial business reviews.

  • Strong analytical skills, experienced in translates operational execution details for all audiences and summarizes data for higher-level reviews.

  • Experienced in driving continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve productivity to meet and exceed business objectives. Skilled in obtaining feedback and develop action plans to address areas of concern.

  • Experienced in meeting the compliance needs of certified Drone Operation (Light UAS Operator Certificate – LUC). And ensured operations meet the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) and the Part C of Regulation (EU) 2019/947.

  • Experienced in Flight operations planning, logistics (equipment & maintenance tracking), documenting.

  • Holds a deemed export control license

  • Fluent in both Italian and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diversity of experience internal or external to Amazon that aids in Thinking Big.

  • Knowledge of Regulation (EU) 2019/947 for the approval and operation of drones Experience with the EASA/JARUS SORA (Specific Operation Risk Assessment) methodology

  • A1, A2, A3 Drone pilot license or equivalent competency with prior experience in the drone/ aerospace industry.
