Amazon Principal Product Manager, AVS ProServe, AVS ProServe in Tokyo, Japan

Description

Our Amazon Vendor Services (AVS) ProServe team goes deep with our largest and most sophisticated vendor customers, combining elite client-service skills with cutting edge data science techniques, backed up by Amazon’s 20+ years of experience in Japan. We start from the customer’s problem and work backwards to apply distinctive results that “only Amazon” can deliver.

AVS ProServe is looking for a big-thinking leader to transform the way we support brands with insights and growth advisory capabilities. This role calls for someone who is a highly effective Product Manager with a proven passion for 3 things: (1) Identifying the vendor needs and competitive landscape, (2) Design and launch a set of new services that delight vendors, and (3) Leverage latest technology and science to transform how we engage millions of customers. You will be responsible for defining the AVS ProServe capability strategy to improve vendor experience, and launch/execute the strategy.

You will work directly with consultants and top vendors to: (a) understand blockers to growth (b) benchmark external services and identify the source of competitiveness, (c) identify opportunity and build the capability roadmap, (d) work with our dedicated science and tech partners to build new services, (e) define go-to-market strategy and launch to vendors, and (f) measure, inspect and improve performance metrics.

The right candidate has thrived and succeeded in building and launching a new tech services/products in an environment where priorities shift fast and ambiguity is ever present. You know how to be scrappy but build for scale. You are a strong tech leader who is analytical and data-driven, can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly, and who understands how to drive a high level of focus. The role requires innovative thinking balanced with a strong customer, quality, and financial focus. Experience in management consulting, enterprise sales, or other B2B or executive partnership roles in Japan is not required but highly desirable; eagerness to go deep with our biggest customers is a must.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Understand the pain point of vendors by designing and running voice of customer mechanism.

  2. Deep dive and identify the key improvements needed to bar-raise vendor experiences.

  3. Define the strategy and roadmap of the ProServe service and technical capability.

  4. Run strategy and technical review with leadership team to gain feedback and alignment.

  5. Provide input to technical architecture to enable best in class user experience with tech partners.

  6. Work with science team to detail out the capability to solve critical customer problems.

  7. Work with business partners to experiment and validate hypothesis, and further iterate the plan
