The Amazon Fresh APAC team (Japan=JP and Singapore=SG) is looking for an exceptionally motivated and talented Category Leader for Japan to oversee retail business strategy including end to end business execution (selection, pricing, availability, quality) with full P&L responsibility.

The customer demands and shopping activities of grocery in Asia have become increasingly diverse (and COVID-19 accelerated this diversity. Lots of customers started using online grocery, at the same time we see more competition), hence we Amazon Fresh team need to explore further innovation to establish the best business model for Japan through best in class selection, with reasonable price and value, instock availability, and variety of delivery options (same day, schedule ahead).

This position leads and drives retail business strategy, day to day retail input and output, and being a single thread leader of JP fresh retail business working closely with partner teams across NA, EU and APAC to effectively connect the needs of customer that drives incremental growth for JP grocery business. Our vision is to be the most loved online grocery shopping destination through the best in class service and technologies, while saving customers time and money.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Category Leader, you will manage entire Vendor Management team including SVS. This position will be responsible for followings by leveraging your team resources and support from product/program/marketing teams. (1) developing business strategy (10 yr projection, 3YF, OP1/OP2) working closely with APAC Country Leader, WW Fresh senior leaders, and finance, (2) driving day to day retail key inputs (selection, pricing, availability and quality) and monitoring the process and actions through WBR/MBR/QBR, (3) influence tech roadmap to accelerate the business growth working with Product team, and (4) contribute to the long term business strategy as a part of WW grocery store (US/UK/DE/FR/IT/ES/JP/SG) including path to profit. This role works with wide ranged stakeholders: multiple global organizations who own business strategy, technical roadmap and resource, Japan/Singapore local business leaders, Prime, Central Mktg, Operations, Finance, Legal, PR, HR, and Product compliance/Food Safety. Due to the breadth of scope and complexity of each area, and relatively early business phase, a successful candidate will be; highly self-motivated to build a new business model, eagerly learning from other regions/experiments, Big thinker, Analytical, Simplifier, Result Driven and Effective and thoughtful communicator with Openness for diversity.

Basic Qualifications

• Has Retail experience in amazon or external company (Vendor Management, Instock, or head of VM etc.)

• People management experience (team of 10+, multi-layer)

• Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership

• Professional experience in negotiating with internal and external stakeholders

• Must show evidence of using data to inform decisions

• Must have a demonstrable track record of delivering results

• Must have a proven ability to operate at an operational, tactical and strategic level

• Business to Native level for both Japanesse and English in both writing and speaking

• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
