Amazon Category Lead, Private Brands in Tokyo, Japan

Description

The Amazon Private Brands (APB) team is looking for an exceptionally motivated and talented Senior Manager to oversee business growth, strategic projects, and P&L responsibility for our Hardlines and Softlines business in Japan. This is a Category Leadership position, overseeing all aspects of the Hardlines (HPB) and Softlines (SPB) businesses: selection, pricing, marketing, omni channel engagement, and supply chain and working with partner teams across NA, EU and JP. As the Category Leader, Private Brands, you will manage a team of Product Managers and be responsible for: (1) developing business strategy (3YF, OP1/OP2) working closely with senior leaders across APB and JP Retail, (2) growing well-recognized and loved brands, (3) iterating on ideas and experiments to make our products easy to discover and purchase with confidence (4) collaborating with APB product development team to incorporate business customer needs in new product roadmap planning, and (5) inventing a better end to end supply chain. The leader in this role works with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple global organizations who own business strategy, technical roadmaps and resourcing including: EU and JP local business leaders, APB Selection/Pricing/Marketing, APB Intelligence, APB product development, Finance and Legal. Due to the breadth of scope and complexity of each area, and relatively immature business phase, a successful candidate will be highly motivated to build and test new ideas, eager to learn from other regions/experiments, a big thinker, analytical, simplifier, results driven, thoughtful communicator with an eye to diverse ideas.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Develop vision and short-, mid- and long-term strategy for HPB and SPB in JP.

  2. Plan, execute, and monitor key initiatives(Selection, Pricing, Marketing, and Delivery Experience) to drive financial results (topline, Net PPM, CMLF, OP) in JP.

  3. Work backward from business customer needs, and translate them into category line planning and new product development roadmap

  4. Generate bold and innovative ideas for product innovation and customer acquisition by rapidly prototyping, testing, and scaling activities designed to get customer to try our products and make repeat purchases.

  5. Work cross-functionally with global business and technology teams, local business and operations leaders to deliver high-quality and scalable solutions.

  6. Define, prioritize, and plan resources across functions to deliver improvement across the PNL.

  7. Identify and analyze data to develop business cases, test solutions, and prioritize competing program opportunities

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field.

• 10+ years proven experience in Consulting, Business development, Business leader with P&L responsibilities, or Product Management in an international environment.

• Superior analytical and quantitative skills; experience using data and metrics to test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success.

• Proven experience delivering results by partnering with and influencing others through global collaboration.

• Ability to effectively manage relationships at senior levels in both internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or Master’s Degree in Business, or Finance.

• Ability to challenge preconceived norms, drive consensus and accelerate growth while improving efficiencies.

• High degree of organizational ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.

• Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and keep high quality multi-disciplinary teams.

• Proven experience in running a business or product line with P&L accountability

• Japanese Fluency
