As a Network Support Engineer you will be responsible for operating the network infrastructure where you will learn the tools, services and components that the team relies upon every day. Through close collaboration, support and exchange of ideas, we share a common goal to serve our external customers. Key job responsibilities
In this role a Amazon Network Support Engineer will focus on operating at scale our next-generation networks, you will utilise your networking skills along with our advanced tools and systems to reduce manual operations. The work will include:
Responding to customer incidents/requests that may span multiple AWS services
Troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems at a device level following established workflows
Accurately recording and documenting your work in readiness for escalating issues to more senior network engineers
Working with other Amazon Web Services teams to resolve customer issues
Influencing our operations function, updating existing runbooks where are our process and procedures can be improved
Amending existing automation, fixing simple problems so they don't come back
Assuring our network security posture
Ensuring all network devices are up-to-date running the latest approved firmware versions
Working with third-party providers to keep the network running
Engaging with our data centre operations team to replaced failed network devices

Basic Qualifications
A good understanding of Networking fundamentals (like HTTP/HTTPS, TCP, UDP. IP, NAT, DNS, DHCP, SSH and IP subnetting)
A basic understanding of different routing protocols (like RIP, OSPF and BGP)
Knowledge or experience operating networking devices (like Cisco or Juniper) and troubleshooting networking issues using tools (like traceroute, mtr, ping, iperf, dig/nslookup, cURL, tcpdump/wireshark)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience monitoring and managing a networking environment consisting of multiple network devices via network management tools and platforms
An understanding of Network Security best practices and other technologies such as firewalls and load balancers
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Mathematics or related field.
The ability to read automation scripts, code and configuration files to determine what is the expected outcome
Experience scripting in modern program languages (like Python)
Experience in a build or operations team, responding to customer impacting events, mitigating and root cause analysis of those events
