The AWS Infrastructure Partner Management (IPM) team performs a business control and vendor management function for colocation (colo) data center vendors where AWS has infrastructure deployments. The team manages AWS’s colo vendor business review program - to drive improvements to vendors’ service performance and is one of AWS’s System and Organizational Controls (SOC) compliance requirements. In addition, IPMs facilitate and drive issue resolution between AWS internal customers and our colo vendors, focused mainly on vendor performance, contractual service level violations, and infrastructure risk reduction. Through these activities, the function supports and empowers Operations, Safety, Security, and other key stakeholders to share expectations and work in close partnership to drive service improvement and resolve both contractual and relationship issues.

As a Vendor Partner Manager, you will work with teams across AWS to manage relationships with AWS’s colocation providers and drive service improvements across a global portfolio of infrastructure deployments. You will lead cross-organizational business reviews with our vendor partners, lead the development and implementation of infrastructure risk reduction and mitigation projects. You will drive projects and initiatives that deliver better experiences for internal customers and our vendor partners, and scale how the team manages its responsibilities. In this role, you will also act as a subject matter expert on AWS’s service relationships with these vendors and on their overall service performance.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead cross-organizational business reviews with key infrastructure providers

  • Lead development and implementation of infrastructure risk reduction and mitigation solutions

  • Identify and drive targeted improvement initiatives to raise service performance with specific vendors.

  • Manage the commercial and operational relationships with key infrastructure vendors

  • Empower internal customer teams like Operations and Security by facilitating issue resolution and ongoing performance improvement efforts with key infrastructure vendors

  • Lead design and implementation of projects, initiatives, and process improvements that deliver better experiences for internal customers and our vendor partners, and scale how the team manages its responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on AWS’s commercial relationship with infrastructure vendors and on these vendors’ overall service performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business experience

  • 3+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience

  • 3+ years of vendor management experience and influencing internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations

  • Experience with analytical tools and ability to dive deep into metrics and reporting

  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software

  • Experience delivering Lean/Six Sigma projects such as Kaizens, Greenbelts, and continuous improvement initiatives, this should include needs assessment, business case creation, scope definition, project planning and project implementation
