Amazon Corporate Counsel, Project Kuiper in Sydney, Australia

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

We are looking for a talented lawyer to join the Amazon Legal team supporting Project Kuiper. You will be embedded with the Kuiper business and operations teams (service and hardware sales, revenue deals etc.), with a focus on deals in APAC. You will structure, draft, and negotiate a range of agreements (e.g., agreements to sell services and customer terminals), and counsel the business team on legal issues related to Kuiper’s enterprise and sales business. The successful candidate will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, enjoys being continually challenged, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

This position will be based in Sydney, Australia. Some travel, domestic and international, may be required; interstellar travel is not yet required.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal experience

  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

  • Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent

  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
