Amazon Head of Finance - Veeqo in Swansea, United Kingdom

Amazon is seeking a Finance Manager to lead Veeqo (veeqo.com) — an e-commerce startup which was acquired by Amazon in 2021 and is Amazon’s recommended multichannel inventory and shipping solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) sellers. Our vision for Veeqo is to become the back office hub for SMB ecommerce sellers, for both their on-Amazon and off-Amazon business. We help sellers manage fulfillment operations across all their online stores, and ship orders to customers at the lowest cost and in the fastest possible time. We sync inventory across Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Walmart, Magento and many more, and help sellers fulfill from Amazon and their own fulfillment centers with the lowest delivery time and best shipping rates from the top carriers.

This position will support the CEO of Veeqo and the SFS Leadership Team by being the primary owner of our organization’s most visible mechanisms and artifacts (e.g., weekly business reviews, quarterly business reviews, annual operating plans, 3-year vision plans, goals, financial planning & analysis). You will bring the financial stewardship necessary to drive sustainable growth while exploring new business opportunities. Finally, you will have a central role in charting the business’ long-term economic glidepath, framing the financial implications of its growth and investment plans.

Key job responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned finance professional to help steward our growth into this complex but fast-growing space. We are looking for a strategic and operationally-minded leader to join our Finance team, who is not afraid of ambiguity and challenges the status quo. Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving the core financial processes for the organization including Annual Operating Plans, 3 year Strategic Plan, and Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews.

  • Educating business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs, and make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.

  • Analyzing ROI of different programs/initiatives and generate actionable insights from large amounts of data.

  • Influence CEO of Veeqo and the business owners of Seller Fulfillment Services, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment.

  • Collaborate with executives and various business units across Amazon.

A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate, identifying the high-priority work and projects supporting Seller Fulfillment Services Operations and solving complex problems that effect strategic decisions.

You will be joining a high-performing, fast paced finance team whose mission is to be the trusted strategic advisor to the business, driving profitable growth and scale through innovation. This is a highly visible role and requires a strong leader and open communicator. You will have a direct impact on our top and bottom line with the ability to deliver improvements for our teams. You will have ownership for the implementation of your work and you will see direct business improvements based on the results of your work.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)

  • Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field

  • Experience in multiple finance and accounting roles

  • Experience in accounts receivable or account payable

  • Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses

  • Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making

  • Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis

  • Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan

  • Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
