Description

The Battery System Engineering team at Amazon Devices is responsible for developing and optimizing the battery management systems for our cutting-edge consumer electronics products. As a Battery System SW/FW Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design and bring to market innovative consumer products. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. We are seeking a passionate and motivated engineer to be part of our team. The ideal candidate would be innovative and have great problem solving and analytical skills. You must be very comfortable and confident working on Linux systems as well as Deeply Embedded systems. You have very strong knowledge of operating systems, firmware development, and hardware bring up . You are proficient at C/C++ programming. You are knowledgeable in Lithium-ion Battery fundamentals, charging controls, and Battery Management System development coding fundamentals. You have experience resolving complex problems. You pay attention to detail and solve problems at their root.

A day in the life

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware for battery management systems (BMS) and associated components, such as fuel gauges, chargers, and protection circuits.

  • Implement algorithms and strategies for battery state estimation, charge/discharge control, cell balancing, and thermal management.

  • Conduct testing and validation of firmware implementations, including functional testing, stress testing, and failure mode analysis.

  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions to ensure adherence to best practices and quality standards.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and industry standards related to battery management systems and firmware development.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust

  • Experience with Linux/Unix

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distributed systems at scale

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
