Amazon Web Services is looking for both Leaders and Developers (including Test Automation) to help us define and build the future of computing. The AWS Elastic Block Store (EBS) service delivers high performance virtualized storage "in the cloud" for EC2. Durable storage is a key building block for any application and as a member of the EBS team you'll work alongside outstanding engineers and leaders to develop and operate one of the largest storage services in the world.

Be a part of the team that drives improvements to the performance, availability, scalability, and durability of EBS volumes. This is an opportunity to be part of a team chartered with helping the EBS organization go faster. We are responsible for benchmarking, testing, qualification, and monitoring the active compliance of the EBS server as well as building out systems that allow EBS features to get into customer's hands faster. We are working on projects that help engineers measure and analyze the quality and performance of EBS server and automate things like firmware qualification and platform qualifications. Our team's focus has been centered around development of software systems that enable EBS SDEs to quickly, safely and securely experiment with, debug, and deploy changes to the EBS product in an operationally sustainable way.

We're looking for innovative engineers to help change the dynamics of Release Automation and shift the balance towards automated testing, qualification, and continuous delivery. Our efforts will shift to providing support to EBS SDEs in leveraging our platform and services; while continuing to add critical features and functionality to improve EBS's overall quality and release posture.

On-Call Responsibility

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
