We seek Data Engineers who can help us store, process and analyze vast amounts of data as we build products in the video streaming space for Amazon. This is an exciting opportunity for a rock-star data engineer with a deep domain expertise of data warehouses and pipelines, advanced query writing (Python etc.) and big data, who wants to work in a start-up like environment and is passionate about digital media and new customer experiences.
We are looking for a seasoned data engineer who can help us scale our video streaming and advertising business. The role will be a key partner for multiple stakeholders – product, analytics, software developers and data scientists in the team. We are looking for an individual who is analytical (extremely strong in data deep dive and insights), and has an experience in big data processing and infrastructure. He/She will
work in a highly collaborative environment and be part of a rapidly growing initiative which is going to become a huge area of growth for Amazon's Advertising business and pioneer the usage of new technology at Amazon scale.
Key job responsibilities
Engineer and operate stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. Lead the architecture, design and development of data, metrics and reporting platform for the business
Engineer data transformations that combine data from diverse systems to create business intelligence and result in actionable business information. Engage in advanced data analysis to uncover trends and correlations. Utilize statistical methods and tools to drive insightful recommendations for business strategies and process improvements.
Lead initiatives for full-scale automation of data generation, storage, processing and generating insightful output, while enhancing data accuracy and operational efficiency.
Work closely with stakeholders across various departments including program, product, content, and tech teams. Communicate complex data insights effectively and implement optimal communication mechanisms based on stakeholder needs.
Work with technology teams to scope out and drive any tech changes that are needed
Provide training and mentorship in data engineering and warehousing. Serve as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making and continuous learning.
Basic Qualifications
4+ years of relevant data engineering or equivalent experience
Prior experience of data modelling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Knowledge of advanced big data processing/analytics tools such as Python, Spark etc.
At least 2+ years of experience working in a fast-paced, consumer facing tech business
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent in a Tier I college/university
English reading/writing proficiency
Be abreast of the latest trends and technologies in the internet tech industry
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
Experience working across functional teams and senior stakeholders
Experience working in an OTT or video streaming/player business
