Amazon Software Development Manager, AR - Manipulation in Seattle, Washington

Description

The AR Manipulation organization is at the forefront of building automation products for manipulating packages and individual items in our fulfillment centers. We have already rolled out solutions at scale, such as Robin which will reach 3B sorted packages by EOY, and we are constantly tackling problems such as cart packing, and targeted item picking from a cluttered tote. We are looking for a Software Development Manager that is passionate not only about solving today’s complex technical problems, but also about shaping and setting the visions for their team, and identifying what are the next set of priorities to tackle. They would be working together with a talented and experienced team, that has significant expertise on a wide range of technologies, from cloud services, and at-the-edge workcell development, to developing the science artifacts needed for work planning, and edge solutions such as damage detection.

Key job responsibilities

As a manager of the team, you will be working with business partners, software development engineers, testers, and product managers to design, implement, test, launch, and maintain new automation solutions for robots across Amazon Robotics. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define product features, drive system architecture, and spearhead the best-practices that enable a quality product. You will learn a variety of cutting-edge technologies, development processes, and develop well-rounded skills such as leadership, and effective project management. You will also be responsible for building a strong development team and developing career plans for the engineers reporting to you.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
