Amazon Inventory Specialist - Books in Seattle, Washington

The Amazon Books Operations Team is looking for a customer-focused, driven, and analytical leader with a strong ability to execute, solve problems, and simplify processes.

The Inventory Specialist position offers a dynamic introduction to Amazon’s online retail business and a training ground for future success in operations and supply chain management. This role will own bulk book inventory sourcing and fulfillment strategies/processes to support customer orders, drive supply chain efficiencies, and maximize sales. The Inventory Specialist will play a critical role in developing and scaling new operational capabilities for Amazon Business customers who are ordering books in bulk. Tactical responsibilities include executing and testing new sourcing and fulfillment processes end-to-end, problem-solving/escalating issues in a timely manner, improving comprehensiveness and efficiencies of the processes, and inventing approaches to scale and automate. This role enables you to "hit the ground running" and make meaningful impact for one of our most exciting, growing businesses.

Key job responsibilities

The Inventory Specialist role will be responsible for the following:

• Handle the day-to-day volumes of the assigned tasks and ensure the given SLAs (Service Level Agreement) are met per quality standards

• Root causing and resolving operational exceptions such as out of stock products, supply chain disruptions, etc.

• Making detailed updates to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)

• Developing and updating reporting focused on key operational performance indicators

• Working hours are 8am PST to 5pm PST

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in inventory management/planning, operations, retail, consulting and/or finance

  • Experience with reporting technologies and analytics

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA with a quantitative focus, or advanced degrees in Operations Management, Mathematics/Engineering

  • Strong numerical and analytical aptitude, and high proficiency creating and managing advanced models

  • Strong proficiency in analytical tools including Microsoft Excel, SQL and statistical software

  • Experience with improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $48,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $103,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
