Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer, Alexa AIX in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are building the future of AI assistance with Generative AI (AGI) advancements. Team AIX (Alexa AI Product Excellence) is hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to develop and manage the metrics quality targets across the program. This position requires an experienced BIE who is equally comfortable developing SQL queries to support detailed analyses as well as leading and managing a cross organizational program. Given the work we are undertaking, this individual most be able to dive deep, work through ambiguity, forge relationships across teams, and influence senior leaders and executives across all of Alexa via clear written and verbal communication. This position has a direct impact on customers and developers, and advances our business to drive Alexa's future.

Key job responsibilities

  • Operate a large, cross-organization metrics program focused on delivering a a premium customer experience that requires a high quality bar

  • Establish and drive weekly mechanisms to operate and inspect this data at scale while identifying key trends and areas for improvement

  • Identify, define, and build new metrics or dashboards to highlight key opportunities or areas of concern to leaders across the organization

A day in the life

In this role you will define and own the core metrics program that guides daily science and engineering priorities towards delivering a product that customers love. You will maintain strong lines of communication across partner BI, science, engineering, and product teams to ensure common focus on how our product experiences are performing against established criteria. You will ensure that our metrics reporting and associated mechanisms remain reliable and robust as we scale rapidly, driving trust in the data for all stakeholders.

About the team

Our group is a unique change agent team comprised of a deep bench of seasoned product, BI, data science, and TPM leaders to overcome ambiguity and deliver end-to-end solutions across the breadth of Alexa at a high quality bar. We encourage leaders who are strong at building relationships and can work horizontally to influence without direct authority. We are at the center of innovation and release and the tempo is fast, but exciting.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

  • Ability to coordinate and manage programs despite ambiguity and adversity; deliver results on-time with attention to detail; strong written and verbal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Tableau preferred)

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
