The Amazon Aviation Security (AvSec) Credentialing team is seeking an enthusiastic AvSec Credentialing Manager (ACM) to join its growing team! The ACM’s responsibilities include managing standard processes and ensuring compliance with corporate policies, airport and federal regulations. The ACM performs ongoing credentialing assessments and develops appropriate mitigation strategies to sustain current and future business operations. The ACM will work closely with the AvSec Program Management (PM) team on special projects and introduce best practices as the business operation grows.

The ACM will manage credentialing functions at Amazon Air (AIR) Sites, which include managing the credentialing process for AIR facilities, oversight of collecting biometric and biographic information for background clearances and managing quality assurance audits. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to utilize their critical thinking skills to challenge conventional wisdom, and communicate effectively. The ACM will have a working knowledge of regulatory and organizational requirements for validation and acceptance of AIR-badge applications, badge issuance, and compliance audits. AvSec will provide training to become certified for fingerprint collection.

Key job responsibilities

The ACM’s responsibilities include managing through ambiguity to facilitate team priorities to meet short-term process targets and team goals. The successful candidate will assist with hiring and developing the right workforce strategy to meet long-term process targets, and directly manage a team of on-site professionals. Additional responsibilities include developing new and evaluating existing credentialing standards by establishing workflows, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and operational excellence mechanisms by ensuring customer outcomes are data driven, measured and validated.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Own the overall credentialing compliance for the facility.

• Ensure zero defects on credentialing documentation.

• Create security and quality initiatives that continuously improve processes and mitigate deficiencies.

• Manage projects, communications, priorities, and clarify what success looks like.

• Provide guidance and support to the AIR Operations team from a credentialing perspective.

• Review and implement credentialing standards and procedures to ensure they meet regulatory compliance.

• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to local node facilities to support New Hire Events, in conjunction with Work Force Staffing.

• This role covers a 24/7 operation and you must be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays shifts as necessary.

The span of authority for this role includes oversite of credentialing personnel at a single facility within a geographic region. This will include the hiring and development of team members, supporting operational leadership, managing challenging problems, mitigating immediate risks and escalate credentialing concerns to the AvSec Site Leaders and AvSec Credentialing Program Manager.

Eligibility Requirements:

• At all AIR sites a candidate must successfully complete a Security Threat Assessment in compliance with 49 Code of Federal Regulations § 1540.203.

• At AIR sites with an Exclusive Area Agreement a candidate must successfully complete a fingerprint based criminal history records check in compliance with 49 Code of Federal Regulations § 1542.209.

• This position may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing. Federal law requires Amazon to determine an applicant's history of DOT drug and/or alcohol violation(s) or refusal(s) to test before hiring applicant into a safety-sensitive position.

• This position requires an employee’s full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute their job duties to ensure the safety and security of Amazon AIR personnel, third-party contractors, Airport personnel, cargo, and equipment. This position is therefore designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and, where permitted, post-hire drug testing.

A day in the life

The ACM position serves as the preliminary AvSec interface with all potential Amazon employees and contractors seeking authorization for un-escorted access to security regulated areas of the AIR site. The ACM is therefore considered the first line of defense in mitigating AIR insider threat. This position plays a vital role in leading, training, auditing and assisting the Credentialing Administrators/Specialists in the badge application and access control process, ensuring only the appropriate personnel are issued an AIR ID Badge. The daily duties may involve (1) staffing the badging office(s), (2) assisting customers in completing new badge applications, renewals as well as coordinating service for visitors requiring escort, and (3) providing oversight to the Credentialing team’s support of New Hire Events (NHE), which includes background checks and utilizing electronic fingerprinting equipment.

About the team

AvSec’s credentialing team operates in a dynamic environment, where members are tasked with various responsibilities, and are driven by an overarching mission of security compliance, risk mitigation and quality control. The successful candidate will collaborate and engage with a wider and diverse set of teams such as, AIR site leaders, Human Resources (People Experience and Technology), Learning Department, and Workforce Staffing to execute and drive the mission of the Credentialing Department. The interaction with support groups drives cohesiveness and creates an environment that fosters camaraderie and team work. At times, there may be the need to travel, in order to support the Credentialing team’s mission.

Basic Qualifications

• An Associate Degree and 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following disciplines: corporate security management, transportation/supply chain operations, aviation security, credentialing, or regulatory compliance.

• 2+ years of experience in a customer service driven environment.

• Experience with all Microsoft Office applications.

• 1+ year experience leading teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

• 2+ years of Aviation Regulatory Security Compliance experience, specifically TSA, FAA, and U.S CBP.

• Ability to think critically and work independently.

• Ability to influence others without direct managerial responsibility.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, train and assist team members.

• Strong leadership skills and knowledge; ability to influence change and drive desired outcomes in a matrixed organization.

• Ability to independently manage through ambiguity and handle changing priorities, to effectively prioritize, multitask, and exercise good judgment.

• Analytical leader experienced in performance based, action and results-oriented management, strong project manager and effective problem solver.

• Ability to take calculated risks and challenge current practices to develop and deliver innovative solutions to meet or exceed the customer expectations.

• Experience with process improvements (Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $53,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $115,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
