Amazon Global Trade Program Manager- International Expansion, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We are looking for a global trade compliance expert to build and manage the oversight of global customs compliance for Project Kuiper. The candidate should be an innovative compliance professional experienced in building cutting edge programs. In this role, the candidate will drive and scale the Project Kuiper trade compliance program through development of effective and efficient processes that support the pace of innovation and business that Amazon and its customers have come to expect.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with Amazon’s internal technology teams to develop creative and best-in-class trade compliance business processes and systems that scale

  • Work with Project Kuiper’s Trade compliance teams to create strategy, build global import and export procedures, seek automation opportunities and build technologies

  • Research and gather due diligence to identify complexity and costs to act as an importer/exporter in multiple countries.

  • Determine the requirements to register as an importer/exporter with governments

  • Write internal guidance on trade classifications and country of origin, and analyze customs valuation methods

  • Develop and manage processes in support of rapidly growing global supply chains

  • Interface with cross functional groups to identify and rectify any information/process gaps during the export/import process

  • Perform project management to enable delivery of team assignments and objectives.

  • Leverage data for continuous improvement of trade compliance activity

  • Build import/export processes and controls and drive trade compliance solutions that maximize import/export efficiency

Export Control Requirements: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

A day in the life

Manage daily tasks related to providing import/export compliance guidance with US and foreign regulations to conduct trade activities such as conducting research, updating status reports, and coordinating team deliverables.

Interact with Legal, Global Trade Services, HR, Tax, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, and other internal businesses and external stakeholders to drive global export compliance.

This position requires significant experience in building trade compliance controls and demonstrate use of mechanisms to deliver training, enable and monitor the global business with operation stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of direct experience with import and export trade compliance with US and foreign government regulations

  • 3+ years’ experience leveraging technology for trade compliance to analyze business problems and drive process

  • 3+ years’ experience with analytical skills and ability to interpret data and communicate with team including Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with applying trade rules with complex global supply chains and

  • Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvement

  • Customs Brokerage License a plus, but not required

  • An effective multi-tasker who navigates a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with grace and efficiency.

  • Excellent at creating and maintaining working relationships across all levels and disciplines, receptive to feedback and input from others, and quick to apply changes.

  • Work with internal subject matter experts to gather information, synthesize business and technical concepts, build strategic business metrics, and write original content that drives decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $91,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $196,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
