At Amazon, our HR Partners strategically enable managers to improve the employee experience. This role will be a member of the dynamic Devices & Services People eXperience and Technology (PXT) Core Services team. The Devices & Services PXT team provides both strategic and hands on HR support to the business and is instrumental in restructuring HR functions, processes, and systems to deliver efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency by enhancing manager capabilities while maintaining employee experience.

This Sr. HR Partner (HRP) role directly supports multiple senior leaders across regions/businesses in our Devices Software & Services organization, providing subject matter expertise in the areas of talent development, performance management, employee relations, and insights related retention and performance. They are viewed as highly credible subject matter experts, having sound knowledge in company and local programs, processes and policies, offering a strong and compelling point of view around HR related matters. They are committed to collaboration with multiple HR Business Partners, HR specialists and people managers across the various businesses. They will also lead key strategic initiatives across Devices & Services PXT Core Services.

Key job responsibilities

This role will act as an influential partner in helping managers with talent management processes, people development, performance management and manager coaching. Expectations include:

• Make high judgement decisions with limited guidance and consistently operate with autonomy and discretion.

• Provide guidance and coaching to business leaders with a goal of enhancing their manager capabilities and giving them the tools to be great managers

• Partner with central teams to improve processes and influence product development

• Implement proactive mechanisms to enable business leaders to achieve key goals.

• Leverage business knowledge to inform and set HR performance goals to positively impact business deliverables, efficiency, and profitability

• Identify broader themes in performance related matters, employee development, and retention; identify root causes, take action, and coach managers

• Act as a mentor to other HR Partners leveraging your industry knowledge and high judgement

• Evaluate existing HR structures, processes, and systems and identify opportunities for centralization and streamlining, and sharing feedback and influencing Amazon and D&S teams.

• Drive the implementation of standardized HR policies, procedures, and practices to ensure consistency and compliance.

• Develop and deliver training programs to upskill HR teams and promote adoption of new processes and systems.

• Understand business priorities and translate them into the highest impact work.

A day in the life

In this position, you will help your business leaders develop and execute HR priorities that enable business priorities and foster the employee experience. You will leverage your experience to partner with business leaders on strategic people initiatives to implement and optimize HR programs and processes, as well as identify and drive appropriate solutions aligned with labor relations, HR policies, processes.

Thanks to their visibility across businesses and their access to data on managers’ and employees’ requests, this role will be in a position to spot trends and identify emerging needs and address them with innovative people programs, tools and processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, in Human Resources or related field.

  • 5+ years of relevant HR experience working across regional teams, and driving organizational change initiatives and developing talent management plans for the organization.

  • 5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role, preferably in a business partner role.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; high quality document preparation, data visualization, and facilitation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to integrate HR and business strategies

  • Drives recommendations and prioritization. Looks to a lead or manager to put decisions into a broader business context.

  • Previous experience leading in a matrix environment

  • Strong analytical skills, including the understanding of metrics to support plans and monitor performance

  • Ability to make high judgement decisions with limited guidance and consistently operate with autonomy and discretion

  • Demonstrated achievements in coaching, influencing and problem solving.

  • Thrives in a high-pressure environment and able to manage multiple simultaneous priorities.

  • Proficiency working with remote management.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $193,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
