Amazon ATS Transportation Specialist, ATS Carrier Manager I in Mexico City, Mexico

Amazon’s ATS Transportation Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transportation Specialist to assist in the resolution of stakeholder issues of daily freight movements flowing into and out of our Mexico´s sort and fulfillment centers and our associated Amazon network. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in a huge growth area for Amazon.

An ideal candidate has a background in transportation and excellent data driven problem resolution skills. He/she has the ability to pull and analyze data with ease, drive process improvements, standardize our processes and eliminate the root cause of defects within the current systems. This job will require exceptional communication skills while having the ability to work independently in a high pressure environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Continual, tactical communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers)

  • Ability to pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL, Python and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed

  • Publish daily/weekly performance metrics to assist with driving business results

  • Identify and eliminate root causes of defects in order to drive efficiency in Amazon’s transportation operations

  • Must be able to quickly understand the business impact of the trends and make decisions that make sense based on available data

  • Must be able to systematically escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on the resolutions to ensure they are delivered

  • Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written as you will be required to create a narrative outlining your weekly findings and the variances to goals, and present these finding in a review forum

Key job responsibilities

ATS Daily/Weekly/Monthly Metrics follow up: On Time Pick up (OTP), On Time Arrival (OTA), Dwelling SLA, Cost per shipment/package/unit, Transit Times accuracy, Transportation disruption trends, cost optimization projects, Forecast variation analysis, Weekly Carrier allocation

A day in the life

The candidate will monitor daily transportation performance metrics, carrying out root cause analysis to identify trends on top offender lanes, carrier and sites performance, driving daily touch points with carriers, fulfillment and sort centers, ROC, TOM, Supply Chain, Operational and Finance teams to comply with OTA, CPU and unloading SLAs

Our objective is to develop our transportation suppliers to generate reliable services, while adding value to the logistics operation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • 2+ years’ work experience in logistics/transportation industry

  • Proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables, VLookUps, programming with macros and/or visual basic)

  • Data management & data quality control experience with experience pulling and analyzing large sets of data.

  • Expertise Python and/or R logical programming language.

  • Fluent Spanish / English

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience

  • 3+ years’ work experience in the logistics/transportation industry.

  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, Logistics or related field.

  • Experience in Sales.

  • Experience in manufacturing, transportation, customer service, and/or distribution environments.

  • Demonstrated experience using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement.

  • A self-starter who loves data and who enjoys spotting the trends in it!
