Description

Amazon's International Technology creates new experiences for Amazon customers discovering Amazon catalog through WW Stores. Our vision is to provide the most relevant content and CX for their shopping mission. We are responsible for building the software and machine learning models to surface high quality and relevant content to the Amazon customers worldwide across the site.

The team, mainly located in Madrid Technical Hub, comprises Software Developers and Managers, ML Engineers, Applied Scientists, Product Managers, Technical Product Managers and UX Designers who are experts on several areas of ranking, computer vision, recommender systems, Search and CX. Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager (SDM), you’ll manage the engineering design and decisions with a team of engineers, scientists and product partners. To succeed in this role, you believe in high standards for code quality, testing, and operational excellence. You create mechanisms for achieving results and iterating improvements and can lead a team to deliver results in a space that operates like a start-up, with the autonomy to build the right solution from Day One. As a SDM with our team, you will collaborate with other managers and WW leaders on technical designs and strategy with a career opportunity for growth that only Amazon can offer.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

  • Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
