The AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) is currently seeking a results-orientated individual to join in the role of Energy Projects Manager. The role involves engaging with various stakeholders, including power utilities, in prospecting for and securing the power capacity needed to support AWS's business growth across 2-3 countries within AWS’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) footprint. The ideal candidate will have an ability to think strategically about our business, our technical challenges and have a skill-set to support the development and execution of strategies and innovative solutions that ensures power does not constrain business growth. They will be responsible for owning AWS's relationship with power utilities.

Key job responsibilities

Function Specific Work Activities:

  • Engage with power utilities and other stakeholders to identify power capacity opportunities for new AWS data centres.

  • Secure utility power contracts for new/expanding AWS data centres.

  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive power growth strategy for AWS data centres.

  • Support the delivery of consultation responses on energy policy with Public Policy across the EMEA region.

  • Identify and develop energy infrastructure cost saving opportunities and initiatives.

  • Collaborate on the implementation and management of energy projects in a timely and accurate fashion.

Madrid, ESP

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Economics or other technical field.

Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.

Proficiency in Spanish and English languages, both written and spoken.

5+ years experience in energy industry, involving working with Electricity Utilities.

Understands grid access/connection process.

Strong analytical and commercial skillset to review utility tariffs and grid connection contracts.

Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.

Proven track record of cultivating strong relationships with key client and supplier stakeholders that have resulted in high customer satisfaction.

Ability to self-start and self-motivate in a dynamic environment.

Ability to travel up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree (MBA/MS).

Experience designing or constructing HV / MV substations or other energy infrastructure.

Experience working for Electricity Utilities or Energy Regulators.

Experience working on Energy Policy.

Ability to converse in German, French or Italian is advantageous.

Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services.
