Amazon is seeking a self-motivated, highly creative and experienced social media lead to join the European Social Media Communications team, and lead the continued evolution and enhancement of our Amazon brand social media content and plans in the UK.

The individual will be responsible for leading the development and execution of social strategy, campaigns and content across the UK, working with agency partners, internal stakeholders, and wider Comms teams to establish creative best practice, guidelines and ways of working to ensure our social media content is engaging, relevant and effective.

The individual in this role will be required to work closely with colleagues across Consumer and Corporate PR teams, as well as cross-channel marketing (XCM), to ensure that the range of key messages, events and content that are most relevant to our customers and target audiences, are surfaced in a way that is attention-grabbing, local, and socially native. Success in this role will be demonstrated through measurable improvements in organic and paid key metrics, brand perception shifts via social media brand lift studies, and therefore the successful candidate must be an expert at starting with the audience and working backwards.

Key job responsibilities

Lead the UK social media strategy for @Amazon brand handles, serving as the in-country social expert for communications teams.

Work with the EMEA Social Communications Team to take global and regional plans and adapt for the UK market.

Collaborate with teams across marketing and PR to create key reputational and brand messages for social media.

Create engaging always-on organic content to promote the range of products and services available via Amazon.co.uk

Lead the development and implementation of social media campaigns and always-on editorial content for the UK that deliver against our goals.

Counsel internal stakeholders, including senior leaders, on how to manage risk and handle PR issues on social media.

Manage the social media agency relationship in the UK and co-ordinate activity and spend to ensure the best outcomes for Amazon.

Educate wider teams on best practice and industry developments in social media.

Skills include:

Creative thinking – working backwards from the customer, the ability to find creative and engaging ways to communicate messages across social media.

Tactically aware but strategically focused – knowledgeable about what’s going on in social media and digital communications and how that impacts brand activity on the go but also be able to look at the long-term strategy of our always-on editorial output.

Brand social media expert – demonstrated expertise in running brand social media and how to maximize the impact of an organic and paid approach.

Diligent planner – focused on ensuring campaigns are maximized for success, optimized against goals, and targeted to the right audiences.

Measurement master – knows what it takes to demonstrate the positive impact of social at all levels of an organization.

Proactive in the extreme – enjoys taking responsibility and making things happen – often to a tight deadline.

Highly organized – able to juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while managing essential admin and reporting work.

Ownership - able to work in a fast-paced corporate environment, taking ownership of workstreams and tasks and managing them through to completion.

A day in the life

The successful candidate will have an expert knowledge of social media and a proven-track record of planning, delivering and reporting on a range of social media campaigns across various social platforms. Their expertise should include: strong knowledge of social best practice across key consumer platforms, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn (YouTube, Threads and TikTok also useful); experience running paid social advertising campaigns for big brands including brand lift tests and A/B tests; excellent campaign set-up skills from strategic recommendations and creative ideas to goal-setting and audience targeting; experience managing crises and issues in the social space: influencer content expertise; strong knowledge of paid content best-practice; and measuring performance with an eye toward actionable insights. They should be a multi-tasker, creative thinker, a problem solver, goal-oriented, enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture, and making data-based decisions. Demonstrable stakeholder management and prioritization is also key.

About the team

The role will report through to the European Social Media Communications Lead, who oversees pan-EU social media strategy and best practice. The Social Media Communications Team are the authoritative voice for the company’s notable news, announcements and campaigns in the social media space.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in developing and managing acquisition marketing or channel programs

  • Experience executing scaled marketing campaigns through email or social media

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience developing and executing campaigns across a multitude of timezones and languages

  • Experience in marketing or marketing research

  • Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements

  • Experience presenting metrics and progress to goal to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners

  • Experience designing and executing joint marketing plans with strategic alliance partners with global footprint
