Amazon Automation Solutions Engineer, Global Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) in London, United Kingdom

Description

We are looking for an experienced Automation Solutions Engineer to join our Global Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) Team, focusing on design, program, test and implement software solutions and processes that enhance the productivity and quality of our fulfillment sites.

This global role is an opportunity to become part of our team and make a real impact in different Amazon sites across the world, managing large-scale projects and initiatives, providing technical support to local teams and creating innovative solutions to adopt world class automated technologies and systems.

Flexible locations across the EMEA (Warsow, Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Spain) and the UK.

Key job responsibilities

-Understand and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, ASi), motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems.

-Programming and source coding for in-house built solutions based in PLC or PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.

-Lead international innovate solutions related to Automation Systems.

-Project Management (PM) of large-scale initiatives that will require work activities coordination of site-based Automation Engineers (AE) to accomplish goals of the business.

-Apply Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on troubleshooting and dive deeps for engineering issues, supporting local teams to investigate the root cause and planning actions to eliminate/mitigate the downtime of critical assets.

-Create, optimize and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for control the efficiency, availability and quality of the machines, generating reports for improvement purposes.

-Manage and deal with Vendors to plan and coordinate tickets resolution for local teams or network wide issues.

-Provide technical guidance and decision making for collaboration projects or initiatives with other Amazon teams, being a key stakeholder in supporting technical and major network support requests.

-Ensure remote troubleshooting capability is available on a rotational system to provide 24/7/365 support for all hardware or controls software systems within the sites locations.

*It's required to travel to sites for support around 30%. This role is for EU-T(+) AE Team, which scope is within Europe.

Basic Qualifications

  • -Bachelor's degree in related area.

  • -Experience (non-internship) in professional Software/Sytem development.

  • -PLC experience is required.

  • -Experience in troubleshooting different machines and devices. Siemens or A&B min. Other types is a plus.

  • -Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).

  • -Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • -Master's degree in related area.

  • -Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

  • -Experience building services using AWS products.
