Amazon Applied Scientist II, Global Procurement Technology in Irvine, California

Description

The Global Procurement Technology Team is inventing new approaches to take hands-off-the-wheel in the most complex areas of indirect supply chain management. If you are looking for complex problems to solve that require innovative research and development, this is the position for you!

We are looking for a strong Applied Scientist who is proficient with state-of-the-art scientific approaches, as well as emerging technologies coming from the research community. An Applied Scientist will invent or adapt new scientific approaches, models or algorithms to solve procurement needs and develop software components utilizing these approaches that will be directly integrated into production applications or directly support large systems, products or services.

Key job responsibilities

An Applied Scientist within Global Procurement Technology will work with our Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Software Engineers to both invent and apply predictive and prescriptive analytical methods towards complex procurement problems.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Irvine, CA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of building models for business application experience

  • PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience

  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

  • Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

  • Experience in ML-OPs including building and maintaining ML inference pipelines and ML Training pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Unix/Linux

  • Experience in professional software development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
