Sr Software Engineer

We are building a Services Marketplace in Seller Central similar to Retail marketplace from grounds up. This includes support for catalog, promotions, cart, check out, payments etc.

Key job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or in a relevant Engineering discipline

• 5+ years of industry experience

• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented design and concepts

• Proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C, C++, C# or Java

• Innovative and creative with technologies to build high performing web services and software applications.

• Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment

• Experience in Agile practices and methodologies such as Test Driven Development and Scrum

• Passion for building scalable, global, complex systems to solve problems with proven ability to deliver high quality software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Fluency in C++ or Java

• Familiarity with distributed systems, databases, caching technologies, web protocols, Web services technologies

• Excellent communication and analytical skills

• Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly

A day in the life

Our team, is building new services, for removing compliance (Tax, Trade, Environments, Product) barriers EU and emerging markets like LATAM, MENA etc. These services will be a game changer for Sellers on Amazon. We work with third parties (compliance service providers), governments (starting EU) and multiple internal teams (across orgs at Amazon) to ensure we launch these products that does not exist in market at our scale today and would help our FBA business and goals of Amazon Global Selling. We aim to be pioneers in this area by launching products that Sellers can subscribe and then using the same underlying platform to power compliance services in other countries.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
