You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. You will lead Community Engagement programs and initiatives for AWS Infrastructure in Columbus, Ohio and other geographies. You will identify organizations and key stakeholders including nonprofits and community partners to understand their needs, build relationships and collaborate on impactful outcomes. You will help build collaborative relationships with external stakeholders as a representative of AWS and manage the delivery of community programs, events, and initiatives following global standards with a focus on localization.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage key aspects of community partnerships including working with organizations to finalize and implement programs and initiatives, and determining whether a project or initiative meets success criteria in collaboration with key business partners.

  • Contribute to AWS infrastructure expansion by facilitating discussions related to community engagement during planning approvals, business expansion and help identify community driven risks and collaborate with internal team to mitigate risks.

  • Serve as the key point of contact for community members.

  • Lead community assessment for new sites in the region, identify potential community relates risks and develop a community engagement plan to proactively mitigate the risks. Be the lead in working with neighbors and communities on issues.

  • Communicate the impact of InCommunities programs internally and externally in partnership with Public Relations, Public Policy, Economic Development and other business partners.

  • Represent AWS Infrastructure publicly in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Utilize multiple communications channels including, but not limited to newsletters, the intranet, social media, and email campaigns to drive employees’ awareness and involvement in community engagement initiatives.

  • Capture data to demonstrate community engagement’s quantified and qualified impact on AWS Infrastructure, its employees, and the community, and communicate these values internally and externally.

  • Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, legal, public policy, and public relations to deliver results.

  • Provide vision for the community engagement initiatives across the region, and manage these initiatives with extreme attention to detail and a high bar for quality

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years in a similar corporate affairs, community engagement, government relations or similar role or function

  • 5+ years experience working in a cross functional team supporting business infrastructure

  • Bachelors Degree required

  • 4+ years developing strategic plans

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability, willingness, and desire to: Write and speak effectively for audiences of varying sizes.

  • Experience Interact effectively and provide strategic counsel at all levels of the organization.

  • Masters Degree preferred
