Amazon Hardware Dev Engineer, Grocery Robotics and Automation Systems in Bellevue, Washington

Description

Join us in the Grocery Robotics and Automation Systems org to conceive, design and develop innovative products for e-commerce operations that may include robotics, mechatronic sortation solutions, packaging automation, AGVs, storage or other hardware solutions.

Key job responsibilities

Serve as technical lead within a multi-disciplinary team that includes vendors, integrators, and software engineers and develop emerging requirements for products. Develop business case, application, and theory of operations and write papers for senior management. Drive product definition, execution and testing. Identify and validate product risks and work with team to mitigate them. Define test methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability. Perform test validation of our next generation of products. Interface with engineering managers, product management and/or program management to drive new product development programs from concept to deployment. Engage with vendors and technology suppliers to evaluate and select technology applicable to the e-commerce industry. Be hands-on to bring online new product, conduct verification testing and performance validation. Provide up-to-date, accurate information to colleagues and management. Mentor and coach new engineers and interns.

A day in the life

In this role, you will have interactions with a cross functional team on the system design, installations, and future concepts. There is 20-30% travel to suppliers and amazon fulfillment sites (current and future).

About the team

The Grocery Robotics and Automation Systems (GRAS) team designs, develops, and integrates the next generation technology and systems in our worldwide grocery fulfillment operations network.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

  • Experience with prototyping and implementation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools

  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
