Amazon Tax Data Analyst , 3P - International Indirect Tax Compliance in Barcelona, Spain

Description

Amazon's diverse online business requires VAT filings in a number of jurisdictions across Europe and creates specific VAT compliance obligations relating to third parties (3P) that sell via our websites. The tax 3P obligations are the responsibility of the International Indirect Tax Compliance team based in Barcelona where we are looking for a smart, passionate candidate to join us focused on project management and process improvements within tax.

In this job you will be working very closely with our indirect tax compliance customers and technology partners. You will be supporting complex data solutions and dashboards that underpin the reporting for Amazon indirect tax.

As a data analyst, you will be expected to have data management experience, strong skills data querying skills and understanding of tax and accounting knowledge supporting teams across Europe and Internationally working cross-functionally across businesses/ technology teams to understand and map current processes and lead process and productivity improvements- with a focus on the tools used by Tax managers,

There is option for this role to be based in our Bratislava office in Slovakia as well.

Key job responsibilities

The successful individual will support on Tax initiatives from both a project management data perspective.

We are looking for individuals with proven skills in process automation, data mining and coding capabilities in (SQL/Python/ Tableau) . Which will be tested as part of the interview process.

• End-to-end delivery of assigned projects including their analysing, organization, planning until final results delivery in cross-functional projects.

• Support indirect tax colleagues with data requests, data questions and/or extracting data on their behalf, where standard reports do not meet the requirements.

• Improve existing processes by automating and reducing manual work.

• Collaborate with our technology partners to innovate and maintain complex business and data solutions.

• Perform process analysis to design or redesign multiple integrated process workflows and process issues to ensure that Amazon processes are state of the art, and efficient

• Hands-on detailed data research and analysis of a large financial data sets; investigate, troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues.

• Implement projects to optimize data operations.

• Work with our key technology providers to support technology upgrades, migrations, etc.

• Create and maintain dashboards used by tax compliance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g. Vertex)
