Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer II, CMT in Bangalore, India

Amazon’s global price perception is how the population perceives Amazon’s pricing compared to other retailers. CMT owns pricing to drive customer's price perception and competitiveness of Amazon products. We also support programs that drive excellence across tech/product teams that own the systems aiding promotions experience. We are seeking a creative and goal-oriented BI Engineer to join our Team to support our data driven decision making.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. It requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities, knowledge of business intelligence solutions, as well as outstanding business acumen and the ability to work with product and teams across CMT and Promotions. This role will directly manage a team of Business Analysts and BIEs and will support CMT and Promotions teams by owning complex reporting and automating reporting solutions, and ultimately provide insights and drivers for decision making.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter that can work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision, while managing a team of BIEs and Business Analysts directly. You must be a fast learner who can quickly absorb the nuances of Amazon's varied pricing/promotions programs and processes.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Working closely with the multiple CMT business, product/program teams to understand the business drivers, data availability and product challenges. This will require data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling and problem solving.

  2. Assist in the development of key product metrics and performance indicators to measure overall performance of the business as well as product contributions to the business.

  3. Build self-service reporting platforms, establishing automated processes for large scale data analysis.

  4. Understand and write high quality queries to retrieve and analyze data (ongoing reporting and adhoc requests).

  5. Manage the data infra-structure for the CMT's analytics team that supports promotions programs, deciding which data sources to leverage in the process, including influencing teams to assure data is consistent and accurate.

  6. Own end-to-end data architecture for new product launches.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support analytical and business needs of our customers.

  2. Diving deep to fully understand the ETL pipelines, report architecture and metric definitions, Debugging report issues and unblocking workflows.

  3. Engage with leadership and diversified stakeholder groups to understand their analytical needs and recommend Business intelligence solutions.

  4. Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing performance metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions

  5. Standardize data and report consumption across all customer groups
. Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

  6. Work with data engineering, Machine learning and software development teams to enable the appropriate capture and storage of key data points


  7. Conduct written and verbal presentation to share insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.

  8. Manage a team of BIEs and Business Analysts to deliver successful reporting solutions and mechanisms; and be responsible for motivating and investing in the team's development.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a team of Business Analysts/Data Engineers/BIEs directly.
