The Customer Service Identity and Access Management (CSIAM) team in Identity Services and Abuse Protection (ISAP) is looking for a seasoned Senior Software Development Manager to help build and own our innovative Identity and Access Management (IAM) software strategy and systems. We are looking for a highly-skilled and motivated leader to manage a team of engineers delivering critical corporate and department protective authentication and authorization technologies delivering identity and access management. We are seeking an innovative, intellectually curious, results-oriented technology leader with a history of driving large-scale software solutions, leading teams in project scoping, planning, and delivering to schedule.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop on-site and remote software development engineers through all stages of their career and align their delivery to business outcomes that enables future growth

• Manage the overall software development life cycle via both senior and junior engineers from project scoping, sprint planning, design scoping, engineering execution and ongoing operational support

• Create, prioritize, communicate, manage, and execute roadmaps, project plans, and commitments

• Delivery of quality applications on time and on budget

• Develop and manage the group, conduct performance reviews of team members

• Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

• Work closely with Sr. Engineers and Team Leaders to architect and develop the best technical design and approach

• Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics

• Hire, coach, and mentor individuals; building a strong cross-functional organization with partner technology partners

• Propose and implement new projects or recommend system improvements.

In this role you will work closely with teams across both the Consumer and AWS Security organizations, CS Tech and Operations teams, you’ll see and feel the impact of your work on our customers. This is a high visibility and high impact role that will interact with all levels of Security, CS Technology and Operations leadership. About the team

Why Customer Service Identity and Access Management (CSIAM)? In CSIAM, you will be at the intersection between enabling Amazon scale and raising the security bar that ensures we maintain customer trust. You will raise the bar for continuously improving and delivering the authentication, authorization, and account management of hundreds of thousands of workforce users - distributed across hundreds of sites worldwide, internally and externally – as well as tens of millions of customer interactions every year. In CSIAM, we safeguard the personal information of both our workers and customers by validating that people are who they say they are, and that they access the least amount of data necessary in Customer Service systems. In order to make this happen, our team develops the product roadmaps, engineering platforms and systems enabling access that drives efficiency, enforces least privilege and enables our customers and partners to operate securely by default.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
