AWS is seeking a high-judgement, self-motivated communications professional to drive proactive storytelling for AWS’s community impact initiatives. In this role, the Comms Specialist will highlight the positive impact AWS is having on communities through the programs we run, the organizations we support, and the people whose lives we’re changing for the better.

Key job responsibilities

The candidate will support communications for AWS’s community outreach initiatives, and drive stories about how AWS benefits communities in regions where we build and operate our global infrastructure through programs like STEAM education, local skills development, and community programs.

The right candidate possesses strong media relations and PR experience, and has a demonstrated ability in working on cross-functional teams. They are highly skilled working with key third-party organizations who align with AWS’s mission in making a positive difference in the communities we’re part of. This individual will be excited by the idea of building campaigns and big PR moments from ideation to execution.

The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end execution by researching, building, and delivering PR campaigns to drive a drumbeat of news, content, events, and thought leadership. They will be a creative problem-solver who is able to think big picture and have meticulous attention to detail. This individual will be effective at working in a fast-paced, dynamic organization and have a track record of building trust across teams and generating results.

A day in the life

Drive proactive media coverage of AWS’s community impact programs

Manage integrated, cross-channel communications campaigns

Think creatively to advance big plans and execute day-to-day tasks

Support key community events and partnerships

Write and execute integrated communications plans to support launches and milestones

Build relationships with reporters to keep AWS’s community story top of mind

Earn trust by collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive successful PR programs

Write messaging, press releases, FAQs, blog posts, and other materials

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Deep understanding of media relations.

  • Ability to drive progress and earn trust while working across multiple teams.

  • Creative and entrepreneurial thinking.

  • Experience driving localized narratives.

  • Strong judgment, particularly in narrow time frames.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $147,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
