IXT DEA is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) who is passionate about using data to drive critical business decisions. As a BIE you will be building the analytic technologies to give our internal customers flexible and structured access to data that is timely, accurate, and actionable. You will also partner with senior leaders throughout Amazon to drive insights and measurable results. Leveraging your passion for data, you will help create key analytical frameworks for our internal customers and business partners to utilize.

Key job responsibilities

• Utilize database technologies to design, develop, and evaluate analyses and innovative business intelligence tools and reporting.

• Perform DEI-specific data extracts and build data pipelines to develop reports and dashboards.

• Conduct detailed data driven analyses to uncover DEI business trends or drivers of changes in the DEI metrics.

• Create scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation, and model implementation.

• Lead projects or components from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.

• Build business intelligence (BI) solutions – data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, analyses – or components of larger solutions to answer business questions with data.

• Troubleshoot data, analyses, and code, research root causes, propose solutions, and take ownership in next steps for their resolutions.

About the team

The IXT Data Engineering and Analytics (DEA) roadmap is informed by five primary lines of effort: Workforce Rep/ELC Dashboard/Reporting, Core and Common Metrics, Data Governance, Product/Program Data, and Clarity. This requires robust data infrastructure and business intelligence capabilities that enable critical visibility into workforce representation, diversity indicators, and retention risks across the employee lifecycle. Focus areas include architecting cloud data platforms to consolidate HR data flows from upstream systems, leveraging AWS services like S3 and Redshift to securely structure datasets, developing ELT processes to transform HR data on enterprise scales while managing privacy controls, and surfacing KPI spans.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional or military experience

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

  • Experience with AWS technologies

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • • Experience collecting and reviewing demographic data across multiple countries.

  • • ETL automation experience.

  • • Experience working with data in building data pipelines, reports, dashboards, and analysis.

  • • Experience with AWS technologies including Redshift, RDS, S3, EMR.

  • • Experience/familiarity with A to Z mobile app.

  • • Experience/familiarity with Clarity.

  • • Advanced skills in data visualization tools like QuickSight or similar BI tools.

  • • Ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management in clear easy to consume formats.

  • • Experience conducting large scale data analysis to support business decision making.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
