Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) obsesses over customers; delivering results for customers is what we do. We are looking for an independent, passionate, and experienced individual contributor with expertise and experience in influencing industry standards on behalf of customers. This individual will drive the development of comments and contributions towards international, regional, and sector-specific standards in alignment with our customer’s interests for our AI/ML products and services. This individual will have a deep understanding of the lifecycle of industry standards and regulatory frameworks design, and have a working understanding of AI/ML technology issues.

As a successful candidate, you have specialized experience developing, communicating, and advocating standards positions and a working understanding the complexities and lifecycle of global industry standards. Success in the role will be defined by contributions towards industry standards that support a flexible, risk-based and global approach to the development and use of responsible AI/ML development that simplifies compliance and accelerates customer adoption and usage of AWS services. This role will also be responsible for developing concise and actionable thought leadership positions that will be used to facilitate internal discussion and alignment across AWS product, business teams, assurance teams, and the industry standards at-large. You will also be expected to develop and influence external positions in your country and in larger regulatory context (e.g. the EU) to advocate effectively for our customers.

You will act as a leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly to different audiences (e.g. technical, government, executive), and have a consistent track record of delivery. You are proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation, and handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will be a positive influencer across diverse teams, be able to effectively rally support for your initiatives and be able to help others drive simple, scalable solutions to meet customer expectations. You are able to handle business escalations with a data-driven approach.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive AWS positions within global industry standards. Utilize coordination mechanisms to drive effective collaboration with stakeholders including legal, business and technical product owners.

  • Assist with the development of policy content that helps inform regulatory authorities, address security risks, and can be adopted by our customers.

  • Engage with the industry through various mechanisms including contributions to standards, and speaking engagements as appropriate.

  • Establish credibility and maintain strong working relationships with groups involved with responsible AI/ML (AWS Security, Legal, Business Development, Public Policy, etc.).

  • Define, execute and track projects plans with tight deadlines, drive for results, while being detail oriented.

  • Utilize communications relevant to key partners in the industry standards lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

  • Law or other relevant graduate degree.

  • Relevant experience with public facing external policy development & influencing experience

  • Relevant experience working with Artificial Intelligence.

  • Very strong written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to present and defend decisions and represent the company effectively at international conferences

  • Ability to travel internationally as needed
